Bar Ourcq

Bar Ourcq
Originally uploaded by Jean (tarkastad)
Bar Ourcq is a great little bar over on the edge of the Bassin de la Villette past the top end of the Canal St Martin in the 19th.

Here you can borrow a deck chair to sit out beside the canal, or a petanque set to play with your beer, and they also have a set of decks where djs play electronic sounds.

German bread in Paris?

Where can I find good German style bread here?
(ok, so I haven't looked far yet, for all I know it may be at every other boulangerie...)

Here are some places I found on the web.

Life in Paris blog mentions finding pumpernickel in Chinese supermarkets!

Apparently Paul bakery is well known & may have the answer... (with 34 shops in Paris)

Chocolate and Zucchini blog mention a place in the 13th:
Christian Voiriot
61 rue de la Glacière
75013 Paris
01 45 35 34 91

And of course, for any decent bread, you need some great cheese.
Alleosse Fromager looks worth checking out for that...

Finally, for some edutainment... check out this German v. French Nutella comparison that highlights my desire for some German bread.

Paris pour moi

According to Jean Lorraine,
Paris, pour moi, ne commence qu'au pont du Louvre; je ne pourrais pas vivre loin des quais. O les bonnes flaneries dans l'air frais du matin, devant les etalages des bouquinistes des quais d'Orsay et Malaquais.
[from Paris and the Nineteenth Century By Christopher Prendergast].

This blog is about my Paris, and finding here what I need for me....
